Notably, the move by Ripple is part of an effort to encourage crypto community members to donate to the Maui emergency relief project.
Charitable Organizations Move to Provide Relief for Maui Wildfire Victims
The development comes less than a month after a wildfire broke out on the island of Maui, Hawaii. The unfortunate incident resulted in the death of at least 115 persons, with over 350 people declared missing.
In addition, the wildfire also led to the destruction of people’s properties and means of livelihood. Expectedly, several charity organizations, including the Hawai’i Community Foundation, have announced different funds to support victims of the wildfire.
For context, The Giving Block set up the Maui Emergency Response Fund. The cryptocurrency charity platform hopes to raise $1 million to support other charitable organizations focused on assisting Maui residents with relief efforts.
It is interesting to note that The Giving Block has so far raised $141,711 for the initiative. Out of the total amount raised, the sum of $70,855.88 was donated, while the other half was matched.
Per the announcement, The Giving Block will distribute all donations equally to the humanitarian organizations working to provide relief for Maui residents.
“To assist in these urgent relief efforts, consider making a donation to our fund. Your generous gift will support numerous charities providing emergency medical care, food, shelter, and other forms of aid,” The Giving Block added.
Ripple’s Past Charitable Deeds

In March, Ripple also partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) to support cancer care.
Aside from the abovementioned, Ripple has also made other charitable donations, including donating $50M to universities around the world.
