Berlin, Germany – Safe, a prominent provider of smart account infrastructure securing over $100 billion in digital assets, hosted on May 24 the second edition of Safe{Con} at Spindler & Klatt during Berlin Blockchain Week. The event brought together industry leaders, developers, experts, users, and investors, highlighting significant developments in smart accounts and self-custodial digital ownership solutions.

The one-day event featured over 50 pioneering projects in the Web3 space, offering an extensive array of panel discussions, keynotes, and networking opportunities. Safe{Con}2 highlighted several critical announcements, reinforcing Safe’s position as a trailblazer in digital ownership innovation.

Vitalik Buterin’s Vision for Ethereum Account Abstraction

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin closed Safe{Con} 2024 with a compelling discussion on the future of account abstraction (AA) on Ethereum. He emphasized that while EIP-4337 marks significant progress, there are hurdles ahead. Buterin outlined a roadmap for further development, focusing on forward compatibility with future Ethereum upgrades, enabling cross-Layer 2 (L2) AA solutions, and improving the user experience. He also emphasized the importance of standardizing smart account wallet interactions and explored new potential applications such as decentralized payment networks and quantum-safe signatures.

Safe Smart Account Infrastructure and Multisig Support on Scroll

Safe announced that Safe{Wallet} and Safe{Core} are now available on Scroll, providing developers with advanced tools for on-chain treasury management. These include multisig capabilities, modular account abstraction, and sophisticated distributed application integrations. Designed for high scalability and efficient transaction processing, Scroll will leverage Safe’s smart wallet capabilities from the start.

Safe{Core} Launches Passkey Logins on World App

Safe{Core} announced the launch of passkey logins for Safe smart accounts, starting in June. This feature aims to simplify onboarding and user experience while maintaining high security standards, eliminating the need for passwords or seed phrases that are susceptible to social engineering and phishing attacks. World App, the largest app using Safe, will implement this feature to enhance the ease and security of its more than 10 million users.

Scroll’s Keystore: Revolutionizing L2 UX

Scroll has introduced Keystore, an innovative solution for cross-chain key management within the Layer 2 ecosystem. The result of a collaboration with Safe, Keystore aims to streamline and unify key management for on-chain activities, revolutionizing the Layer 2 user experience and reducing fragmentation.

WalletConnect Integrates Safe Smart Accounts

WalletConnect announced the integration of Safe Smart Accounts into its Universal Wallets, part of the new WalletKit product suite. This integration will streamline user onboarding and enhance security, demonstrating WalletConnect’s commitment to smart accounts. The new ‘AppKit’ and ‘WalletKit’ address the growing demand for modular, multi-chain solutions for developers and users.

Headquarters launches Visa Corporate Crypto Debit Cards

Singapore-based Headquarters (HQ.xyz) announced new strategic partnerships for crypto-to-fiat payouts and the launch of Visa corporate crypto debit cards for self-custody transactions. These integrations will enhance Headquarters’ unified financial platform for Web3 teams, eliminating fragmented systems and streamlining financial operations in the digital asset space.

ERC 7579 Adapter for Safe: Extending the Ecosystem of the Smart Account Module

Safe{Core} has integrated an ERC 7579 adapter developed by Rhinestone to enhance smart account interoperability. This new adapter allows developers to distribute their smart account modules within Safe’s extensive ecosystem, promoting component reuse and consistency across accounts such as Zerodev, Kernel, and Biconomy.

Industry experts noted that Safe{Con}2 demonstrated significant technological advancements and reaffirmed Safe’s leadership in smart account infrastructure.
