Here’s How Much XRP Ripple Chairman Larsen Has Sold So Far in 2025

The Ripple Chairman Chris Larsen has sold XRP tokens worth about $116 million in 2025 alone after holding them for years.

This is according to on-chain data, as Larsen’s wallet appears to have gone on a distribution campaign following its first substantial sale last September. Interestingly, the selloffs come at a time when XRP is performing incredibly well after years of bearish pressure.

Data from XRPScan confirms that the chrislarsen (5) wallet, one of Larsen’s six XRP addresses, has been sending XRP tokens to two addresses since the start of the year. One of the addresses belongs to America’s largest exchange Coinbase, while the second is unknown, but the ultimate destination has been exchanges.

Details of the Chris Larsen Transfers

The first transaction from this year occurred on Jan. 6, involving the transfer of 10 million XRP to Coinbase. When this transaction occurred, XRP changed hands around the $2.4, bringing the worth of the assets to $24 million at the time.

Meanwhile, the second transaction came up on Jan. 16, ten days after the first one. The transaction saw Larsen move 20 million XRP to an unknown address. Interestingly, this second transfer occurred a few hours after XRP reclaimed the $3 psychological mark on Jan. 15 for the first time in seven years.

Specifically, during the second movement, XRP changed hands at $3.027, indicating that the 20 million XRP were worth around $60.5 million then. Notably, The Crypto Basic called attention to this transfer in a previous report, confirming that the recipient address had historically moved funds to exchanges for possible sales.

Drawing from this historical behavior, we concluded that the address was likely to route the assets to exchanges, after it first transferred out 4 million XRP. Days later, all the leftover tokens moved to exchanges for possible liquidation.

Further, six days after the second transaction, Chris Larsen moved another 10 million XRP in a third outbound flow last week. This third transaction occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when XRP traded at around $3.15. This brought the worth of the tokens to $31.5 million at the time of the transaction.

The Larsen Wallet Now Holds 410M XRP

Since the Jan. 22 movement, the address has been quiet. Notably, at press time, this Larsen wallet now holds 410 million XRP, having sold off 90 million XRP since last September. However, this year alone, the address has moved a total of 40 million XRP worth $116 million.

For context, the address was gifted 500 million XRP when the XRPL went live in 2013 and it held onto these tokens until September 2024, when the Ripple co-founder decided to move 50 million XRP to an unknown address for liquidation. Now, Larsen holds 2.71 billion XRP across his six XRP wallets.
