Universal Peace Sanctuary Launches in The Sandbox Metaverse

Animoca Brands, in collaboration with metaverse architect Smobler, has launched the Universal Peace Sanctuary within The Sandbox metaverse.

This virtual space aims to foster peace and understanding by offering educational experiences related to global conflicts and their consequences.

The initiative is a digital counterpart to the physical Universal Peace Sanctuary being built in Lumbini, Nepal, and provides a platform for users to reflect on the principles of peace and reconciliation.

A Digital Space for Global Dialogue

The virtual sanctuary guides participants through interactive experiences designed to teach the impact of historical conflicts and the importance of inner peace.

“We are very excited to work with Smobler and His Eminence Rinpoche on the digital version of the Universal Peace Sanctuary, a project that promotes inclusive and harmonious spaces in both the real and virtual realms,” said Yat Siu, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands. “The new virtual sanctuary in The Sandbox leverages Web3 to create an immersive experience and promote peace, tolerance, and understanding, and we believe that initiatives like this can drive meaningful engagement and contribute to positive change both in the real world and in the open metaverse.”

Users can access the sanctuary through The Sandbox platform, where they are encouraged to reflect on how personal transformation can contribute to global harmony.

“My hope is for players to enter the Universal Peace Sanctuary in The Sandbox and open themselves to discovery by exploring new cultures, conversing with others, making offerings and donations, and embracing a global message of peace,” commented Sebastien Borget, Co-founder and COO of The Sandbox. “The Sanctuary is a place of acceptance, remembrance and engagement. Our actions in the social and virtual space should matter as much as they do in the physical world. While the physical Universal Peace Sanctuary is still being constructed, right now people from all around the world can rally and contribute to the cause of peace through the Sanctuary’s various events and activities inside the metaverse.”

The digital experience is free and open to all, allowing widespread access to its peace-promoting message.
