A tweet from the account Ripple News is circulating on social media, stating that Ripple has announced a 100 million XRP Rewards Event for its supporters.
The post says that Ripple is reportedly distributing 100,000,000 XRP as a gesture of appreciation after its legal win against the SEC. The tweet indicates that users can receive their portion by going to a given link, which allegedly directs to the official XRP Airdrop website.
However, this endorsement is fake, in an investigation conducted by our Cryptotimes team we found many Red flags.
Starting with the supplementary tweet of the video as it provides a link directing users to a Medium page, which gives more information regarding the so-called airdrop. The page has fake comments from well-known crypto figures, including Ripple executives, to make it look real. These fake endorsements try to convince users that the event is genuine.
Ripple’s verified X (now Twitter) handle has neither communicated any declaration about such an XRP Rewards Event nor anything about Brad Garlinghouse sharing information of the same.
Verified company promotions tend to become revealed on the verified social handle as well as via Ripple’s authentic website but appear nowhere as there is not an indication anywhere for this XRP Rewards Event.
Users are advised to be wary when presented with such notices, particularly if they require clicking on external URLs or divulging personal data. News should always be checked via Ripple’s official channels prior to taking any action.
